Ik heb bij Alamo in Tampa een Standard SUV AWD gehuurd. Heeft iemand ervaring met deze klasse en een idee wat voor auto's er doorgaans beschikbaar zijn?

@Bart80 Niet in Tampa maar ik heb vorige maand even door de Standard SUV's van Alamo gelopen op Las Vegas.
Auto's komen en gaan (en veranderen ook regelmatig van "standplaats") dus meer dan een grove indicatie is er nooit te geven.
Wat ik heb gezien: Ford Edge, Ford Explorer, Chevrolet Equinox, Hyundai Santa Fe, Jeep Grand Cherokee, Mazda CX-5.
Vooral de Edge, Equinox en CX-5 zijn veel voorkomend. Reken er overigens niet op dat er een afzonderlijke rij AWD staat.

De prijzen bij Alamo zijn inderdaad flink gedaald. Wij hebben een reservering voor komende zomer in Tampa. We zaten te twijfelen tussen de klasse standard crossover of een premium crossover. Prijsverschil voor 3 weken is €60. Uiteindelijk voor het laatste gekozen. Hebben jullie ervaring met auto’s in deze klassen?
Is het aan te raden om een reserve boeking te doen bij Alamo voor een lagere klasse om eerst daar te kijken? Wij zijn hertz gewend (PC) en kunnen we gewoon doorlopen en tot het laatste moment annuleren. Alamo is voor ons nieuw. We hebben skip the counter ingevuld, maar kun je daar ook zomaar tot het laatste moment annuleren?

Mijn indruk is dat de Premium modellen (Premium Cross-over vs. Standard) wel luxer zijn, maar vaak ook kleiner.

@Frasi dank je wel voor je reactie. We hebben liever een grotere waren. Dan is het denk ik wel slimmer om op onze beide namen een reservering te doen en daar in de rij kijken. Als ik het goed begrijp kun je dus bij Alamo direct naar de garage lopen en uit de betreffende rij een auto kiezen?

Klopt: als je skip-the-line doen en je hebt jePDF met barcode, kan je direct naar de garage om in de corresponderende rij je auto uit te zoeken. Formulier met CC en rijbewijs bij het uitrijden (slagboom) afgeven om het contract te verkrijgen. Erg vergelijkbaar met Hertz Golden Canopy.

We hebben twee boekingen gedaan, beide met skip the counter. Werkt inderdaad ideaal. Hebben alleen nog de klasse C laten staan bij hertz maar ik denk dat we bij Alamo zullen slagen.
De lage prijzen bij Alamo gelden wel voor Tampa maar niet voor Orlando. Wel bijzonder.

Bij Alamo.de ben ik een 100 euro goedkoper uit dan mijn (c-klasse) bij Hertz maar...........we hebben de laatste jaren zo'n mooie auto kunnen kiezen uit de PC rij van Hertz dat ik dénk dat ik mijn Hertz reservering laat staan....
(mijn man hoopt namelijk weer op een Tahoe in Denver )

100 euro goedkoper voor je gewenste autoklasse... Je hebt dan wel de garantie van een specifieke klasse. Iets wat bij de Hertz constructie zeker niet altijd het geval is (maar vaak wel lukt)

@Marcel5050 Kwestie van voorwaarden volgen. Het is vrij gebruikelijk dat bij niet of te laat annuleren een deel van de vooruitbetaalde huurprijs wordt ingehouden van de terugbetaling.
Bij Alamo wordt €50 ingehouden als je niet minimaal 3 dagen voor afhaaldatum annuleert en €150 bij no-show.
Als je niet vooruit betaald, kan er niets worden ingehouden en kost last-minute annuleren (of no-show) dus niets.

BEFORE DECIDING WHETHER TO PURCHASE ANY OF THESE OPTIONAL PRODUCTS, YOU MAY WISH TO DETERMINE WHETHER YOUR PERSONAL OR COMMERCIAL INSURANCE OR CREDIT CARD PROVIDES YOU COVERAGE DURING THE RENTAL PERIOD. RENTAL AGREEMENT ADDENDUM RESTRICTED USE OF PASSENGER VANS WITH SEATING FOR OVER 10 OCCUPANTS Renter and Owner agree that the terms of this Addendum are additional to and a part of the Rental Agreement for the passenger van being rented. Renter understands and agrees: 1. The van will not be operated or used in Canada. 2. The van does not meet Federal Bus Safety Standards and they will not transport children in the twelfth (12th) grade or younger, other than family members, for school related functions. U.S. DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION LARGE VAN ADVISORY The risk of a rollover crash in a 15-passenger van dramatically increases as the number of occupants increases to full capacity. Placing a load on the roof also contributes to this increased risk of rollover. These two conditions change the van's center of gravity. As a result, the van has less resistance to rollover and handles differently from other passenger vehicles making it more difficult to control in an emergency situation. Most vehicle rollovers are single vehicle crashes in which the vehicle runs off the road and overturns when it strikes a ditch, embankment, soft soil, or other object. TIPS FOR PREVENTING ROLLOVER Drivers must be well rested and maintain a safe speed for weather and road conditions. Drivers must be especially cautious on curved rural roads and maintain a safe speed to avoid running off the road. If the van's wheels drop off the roadway, gradually reduce speed and steer back onto the roadway when it is safe to do so. BUCKLE UP FOR SAFETY Eighty percent of people killed in rollover crashes in 15-passenger vans were not wearing seat belts. Passengers can dramatically reduce their risk of being killed or seriously injured in a rollover crash by simply using their seat belts. All vehicle occupants should always wear seatbelts. Drivers should be responsible for enforcing the use of seat- belts. OTHER TIPS FOR SAFE DRIVING When a 15-passenger van is not full, passengers should sit in seats that are in front of the rear axle. More than 15 people should never be allowed to ride in a 15-passenger van. Because 15-passenger vans are substantially longer and wider than cars, they: require more space and additional reliance on the side-view mirrors for passing; do not respond as well to abrupt steering maneuvers; require additional breaking time. Renter acknowledges, by his/her signature below, that he/she has read the above consumer advisory and agrees to all terms of this Addendum and agrees to provide this Addendum to all Authorized or Additional Authorized Drivers.
