Rafting op de colorado-river

Wij zouden graag een half dagje raften op de colorado-river. Maar het echte raften (white water raft-trips) blijkt telkens minstens één dag te duren. De trips die slechts een halve dag in beslag nemen, lijken ons eerder "familie-boottochtjes", nl. de smooth water raft-trips.

Iemand hier ervaring mee? Is het mogelijk ergens een halve dag te raften?

ONE-DAY WHITEWATER RAFTING ADVENTURE



This one-day whitewater rafting adventure is offered daily from March 15th thru October 31st. We offer you a chance to travel 45 miles of the Colorado River and experience 9 exciting rapids! The trip takes place in the lower granite gorge of the Grand Canyon from Diamond Creek to Quartermaster. The first 15 miles is where the 9 rapids are, which range from 3-7 on a scale of 1-10. The rest of the 30 miles is smooth water. No experience is necessary to enjoy this adventure. We only ask that you be able to get in and out of the boat. Our minimum age is 8 years old and there is no passenger weight restriction. For your safety, a life jacket is provided.



The Hualapai River Runners have been operating for 30 years and have taken many people from all over the world through the Grand Canyon. Our boatmen have 4 to 20 years experience and are trained in CPR, First Aid, and Swift-water Rescue. Our motorized boats hold up to 8 passengers and we can take up to 80 people per day. There has been very few incidents of anybody falling off the raft(s) throughout our 30 years.



Check-in will begin at 7:30 a.m at the River Runners desk located in the Hualapai Lodge. At 8 a.m. We'll drive you down the only road to the bottom of the Grand Canyon to meet your boatman or boatwoman. The drive is a total of 19 miles, but is on a rough dirt road and takes about an hour to arrive there. After your arrival at the river, your first stop will be at Travertine Caverns where you will hike and rope climb into the cavern where you will see a natural waterfall-Travertine Falls.



For lunch, all the raft will stop along the sandy beaches for your enjoyment. Lunch consists of a deli-style sub sandwich with chips. Please inform us if there are any dietary restrictions in your group so we may accommodate you. All snacks and beverages are also provided.



At approximately 2:30 p.m, you will arrive at Grand Canyon West where you will be airlifted by helicopter from the bottom of the canyon to the top, to enhance your view of Grand Canyon West. The airlift ranges anywhere from 8-10 minutes. At the Grand Canyon West terminal, you may wash up and visit our gift shop for any souvenirs or snacks. From Grand Canyon West, you will be transported by bus back to the Hualapai Lodge which is approximately 2 to 2/12 hours drive in time. You should arrive back to the Hualapai Lodge between 6 – 7 p.m.

The cost per person is $249 + $79 (transportation fee) + 7% sales tax, totaling $350.96. We are currently offering a River Special for groups of 4 or more for $1,299.00 + tax, which includes a one night/one room stay here at our Hualapai Lodge. Lijkt jullie dit niet wat duur of is het toch de moeite waard of waar voor zijn geld??

Ik begrijp dat je er 's morgens vroeg al moet zijn en dat je aan het eind van de dag nog terugmoet. Waar slapen jullie? Het is zo'n 2-2.5 uur van Las Vegas. Ook is 30 miles smooth water. Ik heb deze tocht niet zelf gedaan maar heb op TA wel diverse reakties gelezen die positief waren maar waar ook geklaagd werd over de prijs...
Die tocht vanuit Page is ook mooi, en een stuk goedkoper, maar ja, geen white water...Kom je nog in Moab? Daar zijn ook whitewaterrafts.

Nee in Moab komen we niet...

Lijkt idd wel leuke dag maar misschien toch te duur en we laten het dan waarschijnlijk aan ons voorbij gaan!
Wel jammer want zo een aantal rapids meemaken in zo'n decor moet toch wel indrukwekkend zijn...

Ik heb alle links nagekeken maar ze vertrekken allemaal vanuit Moab. Weet iemand of er ook een rafting tocht van 1/2 of 1 dag vetrekt in de buurt van Grand Canyon Village?

Er vertrekken geen raftingtrips vanuit GC Village. 1 dag (beetje whitewater) trips in Grand Canyon West en meerdaagse whitewaterrafts vanaf Lees Ferry. 1/2 dag smooth watertrips vanaf Page (Colorado River) en Bluff (San Juan River) en whitewater in Moab.
