Re: All about Las Vegas (LV)

Re: All about Las Vegas (LV)
Dit gaat even in m’n kleren hangen...

Re: All about Las Vegas (LV)
Zie bovenstaand.

Re: All about Las Vegas (LV)

Re: All about Las Vegas (LV)
VEGAS Trip report
I’m ready to make a report about my maiden trip to Vegas. It was packed, my feet are ruined lol.
We had a 9 night stay:
- 5 nights at Aria (Stay, sip, dine through myVEGAS giving me $75 F&B-credit per day)
- 3 nights at Wynn, comp.
- 4 nights at Delano
Yes, I had double rooms on some nights, as you may notice. This comes primarily due to the fact the room at the Wynn wasn’t factored in at first, but as the opportunity arose, I took it anyway.
Day 1: travel day.
Left home early at 6am to catch a flight into New York JFK, then switching planes to LAS.
This was my first experience with traveling into the US.
We had, what it seems, a very tight connection (1h25min) at JFK.
After an uneventful but long flight to JFK from BRU (due to headwinds, taking 8 hours 20 minutes where it’s done mostly under 8 hours and some days in 7 hours 30 minutes), I rushed out of the plane with my wife, rushing to immigrations at JFK - only to find a queue that in the end took 3 hours and 30 minutes to clear - making me miss my connection entirely.
Luckily, once cleared, Delta put me on the 8:55pm direct service to Las Vegas and after having a 7 hour + layover, all was well.
Got into LAS around 11PM, luggage was out before I got there, and into a Lyft for the ride to Aria. Got there, nobody in line for check-in. Got a $50 out, chatted about 15 minutes with a lovely lady about our travel, how tired we were (30 hours awake by now, aside from some naps in a plane seat...), and how it was our anniversary (10 years, not a lie!). She said my Deluxe king was a non-strip view on a low floor, but she could change that to 22nd floor strip view. I took it and was very happy about it. She also took care of the fact that actually, since it was past midnight and technically were on the 2nd day of our trip, I didn’t lose first nights $75 F&B-credit.
We put our stuff in the room, took a stroll to CVS to get some drinks/snacks for the room, put some ice in one sink (I was really happy the ice machine on my floor was opposite my room - so convenient).
As we were a little hungry, and Aria Patisserie being the only thing open, we ate there using the credit. Not bad, but wouldn’t get back necessarily. Then, off to bed.
Day 2:
Sure enough, after only 5 hours of sleep, I was wide awake. It was 6:30am and after taking a shower, my wife also was awake. After taking a walk outside, we ate at Aria Cafe. Good breakfast here! After this, we both got our players cards and both loaded the $50 Freeplay reward from MyVEGAS. Turned it into $45 real money, took it, and ventured in and out multiple casino’s from there, gambling a little everywhere. Cosmo gave me a $5 freeplay for signing up, I hit a small bonus and had $30 afterwards. Cashed out!
We also picked up our Caesars Players cards, due to a tier match we both had Diamond. Put $20 in a slot machine we liked, soon enough it was $45 and we cashed out. Had frozen cocktails in Numb during happy hour.
A visit to the Bellagio were we used a BOGO gelato (so yummie, got two scoops each) and visited the conservatory. Lost $20 playing video BJ there.
Took the tram from Bellagio to Aria, stopped for some slices at Five50 (wouldn’t be the last time, so good!) and on to park MGM.
We both played video BJ, slots and had 3 drinks each. In the end, after starting with $50, we cashed out $65.
Visited Eataly, The Park, and NYNY afterwards. Lost $40 at NYNY rather quickly. Visited Hershey’s there.
From NYNY, took a Lyft to The Linq high roller. Due to us being Diamond, we got BOGO tickets so paid only $55 for 2 happy half hour tickets. The views were stunning, the drinks were strong. I’m not a big drinker (almost never drink at home, only when on holiday) but managed 4 gin-tonics (the 4th to go). My wife had 1 Vodka Cranberry and drank 2 soda afterwards.
Since I was quite buzzy afterwards, time for some burgers. Went to In-N-Out, loved it!
Walked to Aria afterwards. Time for bed.
Day 3:
Woke up, luckily (thank you electrolyte solution) without a hangover. At 9:30am Machine Guns Vegas came to pick us up. I shot the Gamers-package. Awesome, never shot a gun before but would do it again immediately. It was so fun I bought a second clip for the AK47. Brad was my instructor, guy was awesome. Since we hadn’t had any breakfast, and were hungry afterwards, we decided to use the Aria BOGO Brunch + the all you can drink pass. I ate way to much, drunk way to much but the food was awesome. I had 6 plates full of things + dessert. Afterwards, we both just went to bed for an hour (jetlag + drunk + ate to much). We decided there and then we wouldn’t do buffets again, I really love them but overeat each time...
After we woke up, got to NYNY again to check out the arcade, checked out Excalibur (Lost $20), checked out Luxor (Lost $30) and walked to the Las Vegas sign. There was a bit of a queue but in 15 minutes we took our pictures and ordered a Lyft to Aria.
Got redressed, and picked up by Maverick for our strip helicopter flight. My wife was anxious, but is was awesome. The guy getting us there and back in the van made it kind of a party van. We had lots of fun. I used the MyVEGAS reward for the free photo. Bought drinks at Fat Tuesday, little walk outside and to sleep. As you may have noticed, we didn’t eat again after the buffet lol.
Day 4:
Up at 8am, shower and walked to Denny’s, something I really wanted to try. It didn’t disappoint! We had to wait for a bit but when seated found the food very good.
Walked back to Aria, gambled a little bit. Played a Flinstones themed-slot, hit a nice bonus, $50 was $95 and cashed out. Went to the room, swimwear on and on to the pool.
Had frozen cocktails again, and ate chicken tenders. Charged bill to room as to use the F&B-credit but later upon checkout found out this didn’t count, effectively having to pay the $70 pool bill on one hand and forfeiting the F&B-credit on the other hand as I didn’t charge anything else back to the room that day. Aria pools are awesome, service is great and food and drinks are good too. My wife had to do her hair after the pool so I got time on hand and played Shark Week for an hour. Again, turned $50 into $80 so lucky me. Met up with my wife, and took a Lyft to the Strat. Due to time being short, I didn’t gamble there, but we did do what we came for: visit the 107 SkyLounge during happy hour. Service was friendly but slow, drinks were really good. Few drinks and bites in, we quickly left using Lyft and went to Excalibur where the myVEGAS meet-and-greet was. Met some really nice people, had more than a few interesting chats. The Lounge @ Excalibur where it was held was nice enough. Me and my wife both used the $25 of $50 purchase, but the desk actually gave us two $25 comp slips so we could just order and pay with these. We asked the bartender to make something really sweet and sure enough, he made nice cocktails for us twice. Ended up not spending a penny, due to the vouchers. Our bartender was great so I tipped really good, in turned he hooked us up with free water bottles as well.
Since we were both feeling quite buzzy again, we had to eat. This time we had Johnny Rockets @ Excalibur and loved it. I then saw a Breaking Bad slotmachine and had to play it. Turned $50 into $100 and cashed out.
Across the road went to visit Tropicana, signed up to their reward program and got $20 freeplay but didn’t win anything.
As they had nice low limit tables for a weekend, bought in with $100 for blackjack. I played for 2 hours, drink service was awesome (had to actually turn down the Corona’s at a certain point) and ended up with $170. My wife stretched her $50 slot money during the same time and came back with $35 having scored a few drinks as well.
Walked all the way over to Bellagio, watched 3 fountain shows. Took the tram back to Aria. Had slices at Five50. Went to bed.
Day 5:
Woke op with a slightly heavy head. Needed a heavy breakfast, and my wife wanted none. I ordered a Breakfast burger from the Burger Lounge through the room tablet and picked it up shortly after. Ate it in the room. Was very good.
Went with my wife to the pool, and after she was installed, I took off to the Shelby Museum. A cars and coffee was on so I watched around for a bit, then did the museum and finally the free tour. Great guide, must do if you’re a car guy.
Lyft back to the hotel where I met up with my wife again. We decided to check out Nacho Daddy. Had a Mexican Candy Margherita and shared a plate of nachos with my wife. These were amazingly good. Caught another Bellagio fountain show, and then we strolled north. Our final destination was Wynn, where we had to check in on a comp room. Played a little here and there, won nothing.
Once I arrived in the Wynn, there was, once again, no queue checking in. I chatted to a very nice guy and put a $20 in front of me on the counter. We chatted forth and back about the rooms and in the end I ended up paying casino rate for a 3 night upgrade to a panoramic corner view room on the 56th floor. I’d do it again in a heartbeat. Views are amazing. The Wynn is an awesome hotel. The rooms are stunning, and Alexa is a neat feature. Staff in the Wynn is awesome. We enjoyed the room for a bit, then ordered another Lyft to go downtown.
As this was a Saturday night, it was super busy. I didn’t quite like the vibe around, to much drunks, extremely loud,...
I visited the Golden Nugget, became a players club member, played video BJ and slots, had a look at the pool/shark tank and visited the hand of faith. Very nice hotel!
Then onto Binions. We had a $25 voucher for their cafe, and honestly, cheap as it is, their food is awesome. I really would go again, even if I had to pay full price.
Our luck wasn’t over yet: as we wanted to take our picture with the 1M in cash, a guy approached me and said “here’s another voucher for a souvenir photo, I have doubles so you don’t have to pay”.
Strolled through another couple casino’s, visited the Downtown LV-sign and then finally took a Lyft back the Wynn. It was especially my wife who didn’t like Downtown. We decided one day we would go back during a weekday.
Day 6:
Saturday morning, we had breakfast at the Sugar Factory at Fashion Show Mall and We then had to try out the Wynn-pool. It’s awesome, service is awesome. Can’t say more about that. Stayed a few hours before hitting the shower.
Over to the Mirage, where I played for a bit on a Willy Wonka machine, then cashed out ahead a couple of tens. It was then time for Secret Garden/Dolphin Habitat. We had comp tickets through MyVEGAS. It was very enjoyable. We had our pictures taken with Siegfried.
We then crossed the road, checked out the Venetian, and then did Madame Tussaud’s, also comp through MyVEGAS. It was very nice. We paid for one of the souvenir photos.
We then had a quick bite at the food court in the Canal Shoppes and ordered a Lyft to Delano, our third hotel. I was excited as the self driving popped up, and hit it really quickly. The ride was amazingly smooth. The co-driver went out of it’s way explaining everything.
When we arrived at Delano, there was a line for check in, but luckily I hit gold the day before with Mlife so could skip the line. The room at Delano was a scenic suite. This was a real suite with a seperate bedroom, 1 1/2 bathrooms and ample room. I loved it. Finishing, however, was just a little under Aria’s and Wynn, but in its own right, still one of the nicest rooms I stayed in. I made the ‘mistake’ of not tipping the guy at check in, I think. I did this because I already booked the room I wanted, but we ended up being on the 12th floor only. View of the pool and the roof wasn’t the nicest of the trip lol. Delano itself is nice, smells good and is conveniently connected to Mandalay Bay.
We walked back all the way to the Coca Cola store, where we had the ‘Tastes of the world’. 16 cups of soda, an extremely funny experience watching each other being surprised or disgusted by some of the tastes.
Then we visited the M&M’s store next door. Also very nice to see.
By then, we were very hungry, and walked into Planet Hollywood. Decided on using my Caesars Celebration Dinner in Gordon Ramsey Burger. There was an awful line but I surpassed that as a Diamond member. The food was awesome. Best hot dog I ever had in my life. Best of all, it was completely free.
Gambled some @ PH afterwards, lost.
Lyft back to Wynn then, and hit the sack.
Day 7:
Morning walk to Peppermill. Fantastic breakfast after quite a wait. My wife bought a souvenir (unicorn) cup at the Sugar Factory. Walked back to the Wynn. My wife hit the pool, I hit the blackjack tables at Treasure Island. Lost $100 playing the $10 minimum but it lasted a full 2 hours and 4-5 drinks. Even the dealer complimented on my play afterwards. We then Lyft’ed all the way to Mandalay Bay (ended up using the self driving option again). We visited the Shark Reef (comp through MyVEGAS) and decided while it was not bad, we were lucky we hadn’t payed full price for it.
Crossed over to Luxor then, and visited Titanic. Had a BOGO from MyVEGAS, but I would even pay full price for this: it was amazing and we spent 2 hours on this exposition. We had to rush to Excalibur, where I had reservations for the Camelot Steakhouse, using our $100 off $200 reward. Drinks, food and dessert were very nice. We hit the spend without any problem. Would go back!
Back to Luxor, it was 8:45 PM and we could just make the Bodies-expo, another MyVEGAS BOGO. It was also worth it. Exited 5 minutes before closing. We then walked all the way back to the Wynn, visiting Paris, Flamingo and the Flamingo habitat, Bally’s and Casino Royale on the way back. Gamed here and there, lost mostly.
Day 8:
Out of bed early. Checked out of the Wynn, and took a Lyft to the North Premium Outlet. Shopped a lot, for 6 straight hours. My wife bought 2 nice Michael Kors bags, I bought clothes, we had gifts for the kids back home,.. I also had some awesome food truck nachos there!
Late PM, Lyft back to Delano, dropped off al of our shoppings, got redressed and then on to MGM grand. Gambled, lost. By then, it was time for our David Copperfield-show. It was extremely entertaining. I managed to catch a frisbee he throws out, so got called out on stage. Fantastic experience. After the show, some gambling at Excalibur and Luxor, then back to Delano and to sleep.
Day 9:
Our last full day. I felt gutted our holiday got to the end so quickly. We went to the Mandalay Bay Pools. Wave pool was superb, the Lazy River was closed unfortunately. By 2pm, we got out, showered and as my wife found the deals on the Michael Kors bags to be so good, we Lyft’ed to the South Premium Outlet. Only were there for about an hour, but she plundered the store. These bags cost 8-12 times more in Europe. Then a quick Lyft back to NYNY. Used the BOGO-crêpes reward and the $50 Times Square drink credit. I drank a bucket of beer all on my own so was quite drunk lol. Having drunken cravings, we went to Gordon Ramsay’s Fish & Chips on the Linq-promenade. We used our 2nd Celebration Dinner so food and drinks were completely free again.
My wife wanted to pack and have a long bath, I decided to have one last gamble in Mandalay Bay. Turned $50 into $155, went up as high as $210. Had 2 hours of fun, drink service here was great. Cashed out. Went to the player desk. Asked to evaluate my play. Being the absolute low roller I was, I was amazed when they said they’d comp 2 nights resort fees.
Day 10:
6:30am checkout at the hotel. Lyft to the airport. Had breakfast at Chili’s. D*mn, do you guys actually have bad places to eat in the US?
Flight was on time. As my wife and I are both plane-enthousiast, we were peeking into the cockpit when boarding. Pilot saw this, said well why don’t you come over here and take a seat? I’ll get the pictures. We both got to sit in a plane-cockpit, an amazing experience we will never forget. Almost again, JFK ruined our flight: it was so busy we had to circle for 45 minutes before being able to land. We had to run to the Jitney in T2 were we landed, over to T4 and onto the gate. Made it 10 minutes before doors closed. Then, we sat for a full 2 hours on the runway as one of the runways was closed and it was super busy. There were 35 planes queueing to take off in front of us. I watched a full movie while still on the ground lol.
All was good when we took off, and we got home only 40 minutes late in the end. Dad picked us up, us superhappy as we got to get the kids from school. I crushed them with hugs for an hour straight.
Now, I have the Vegas-blues. What a city...
I will surely be back. Might take 4 years, might take 6 months, I don’t know, but I have this feeling I only scratched the top layer...
Some trip stats:
- Walked 92 miles
- Spent $330 on Lyft/Uber
- Gained 10 pounds
- Came back home with +-45% of my bank roll so that’s a win!
- Gambling all in: only $290 down
- $2.500 coin in on all MGM-properties, $1.300 coin-in on Caesars
- Caesars already stalking me with up to 5 nights of comp rooms in low and middle tier properties + casino rates for Caesars/Nobu/Cromwell.

Re: All about Las Vegas (LV)
Geweldig, de tips over Caesars Diamond worden! Dank allen

Re: All about Las Vegas (LV)

Re: All about Las Vegas (LV)
Re: All about Las Vegas (LV)
Hoi Allemaal,

Re: All about Las Vegas (LV)

Re: All about Las Vegas (LV)

Re: All about Las Vegas (LV)
