)
Current as of zo., aug. 20, 2006 5:00 p.m. Central. Information is updated as it is received.
For all flights to, from, and within the United States excluding flights from the U.K.
The Secretary of the Department of Homeland Security has determined that there is a high risk of terrorism against U.S. civil aviation, and there is a need for extra restrictions to assure the security of air travel.
Carry-On Baggage Restrictions:
On instruction from the Transportation Security Administration, Continental Airlines advises customers that no liquids, gels, or aerosols are permitted inside the sterile area through the screening checkpoint or to be in accessible baggage or on one's person except:
Baby formula/milk and baby food in small containers if a baby or small child is traveling
Prescription medicine with a name that matches the passenger's ticket
Essential other non-prescription medicines, including saline solution and other eye care products (including eye drops and contact lens solution), not to exceed 4 ozs. (120ml) per container
Liquids, gels or juice for diabetic passengers who indicate a need for such items to address their medical condition. Quantities are limited to no greater than 5 ozs. (240ml) per container
Solid cosmetics and personal hygiene items such as lipstick in a tube, solid deodorant, lip balm, and similar solids
In addition, customers may not bring liquids, gels or aerosols purchased inside the sterile area onboard the aircraft. Examples of liquids and gels include beverages, shampoo, suntan lotion, creams, toothpaste, hair gel, hair spray, liquid cosmetics and items of a similar consistency. Such items may be transported in checked baggage. Beverages purchased in the sterile area must be consumed before boarding the aircraft.
Duty free items, to include liquids, gels and aerosols, may be transported in the cabin of the aircraft if such items are delivered to passengers immediately before boarding or after they have boarded the aircraft.
These measures apply to all scheduled and charter flight operations that depart from and operate within the United States and its territories and possessions.
All passengers are advised to travel light. Accessible property should have minimal clutter to expedite the screening process.
Baggage Allowances:
Between August 10 and August 23, 2006, Continental will accept a third checked bag free of charge (a fourth bag for First/International Business/BusinessFirst customers) provided it meets the carry-on bag criteria. This includes markets with checked baggage embargos. Customers may still travel with a personal carry-on item.
At the Airport:
All passengers should plan to arrive at the airport,
1 1/2 hours in advance of scheduled departure time for domestic travel
2 1/2 hours in advance of scheduled departure time for international travel (excluding travel from the U.K.).
See airport operating times before leaving for early morning flights.
Continental Airlines regrets any inconveniences caused.
DUS: Volgens mij is geen plastic zakje nodig, en mag electronica wel in de handbagage, toch??
