"Tips van Terry"
It seems that those who have met us at HRV road have gotten the same kind of information about their travels. If I could speak or type the language of the Board, I'd explain that:
1) Kanab has over 12 very nice motels and many Bed & Breakfasts to choose from.
2) And many eating establishments from health concious to Steak house and McDonalds.
3) And in the summer the temperature in Kanab runs about 10 degrees cooler than Page.
When we meet at HRV road you miss a lot of the conversation in the car and that would be history, flora & fauna, and photography. That is all part of the tour. Plus you are using your fuel instead of mine. If I were chooseing I would choose Kanab over Page to stay.
Also post a warning about relying on the GPS in the rented cars. Please use common sense. We've had people who are not from the area get into terrible trouble by following the GPS into the dirt roads of Utah, Arizona & Idaho and other parts of the USA too. In our area we've had many break downs of vehicles because of GPS and 2 deaths in the winter due to exposure. On our news this week there was a report about a couple traveling from Canada to Las Vegas who followed their GPS onto a dirt road that is seldom traveled in Idaho. The man went to look for help and is missing. The wife stayed with the car for 70 days on melted snow for water and candy before being found - barely alive. It's not worth it to take a short
cut in unknown country on a dirt road - stay on the pavement.
